What is Sculptra®?

SCULPTRA WORKS WITH YOUR BODY TO HELP REBUILD LOST COLLAGEN

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue—for results that can last up to two years.

Sculptra is the only FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) facial injectable treatment that helps stimulate the skin’s own natural collagen production. It works gradually to help restore your skin’s inner structure to smooth facial wrinkles, such as smile lines, for a more youthful-looking appearance.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF COLLAGEN IN AGING?

As we age, we lose collagen, which acts as the skin’s support structure and helps maintain its shape. In fact, 70% of our skin is composed of collagen, and collagen loss causes the skin to lose its elasticity and moisture.
Sculptra helps treat an underlying cause of facial aging—the loss of collagen. By helping stimulate your own natural collagen growth, Sculptra gradually adds volume that lifts the soft tissues and plumps skin from within.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR SCULPTRA TREATMENT:

  • Stimulates your own natural collagen growth
  • Helps restore lost facial volume and provides support to the skin to improve the look of smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, preauricular wrinkles (the vertical wrinkles in front of the ears), radial cheek folds (vertical wrinkles below the cheek), and chin wrinkles3
  • Provides gradual and natural-looking results that become visible over
    a few months1-3
  • Long-lasting—lasts up to 2 years3*

*Individual results and treatment regimens may vary. The clinical trial ended at  96 weeks (2 years).

The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps.

Sculptra® FAQs

What is Sculptra

Sculptra is a dermal filler that is injected into the skin to fill in hollows and deep creases and lines on the face. The FDA has given this filler approval to gradually replenish lost collagen, which is one of the primary causes of facial aging. The skin begins to degrade throughout the normal phases of aging. This implies that the skin’s elastin and collagen begin to degrade quicker than the body can replace them. Patients may combat the fundamental causes of facial aging, not just the symptoms, using Sculptra injections. Victoria Med Spa is delighted to offer Sculptra as part of our extensive injectable collection. This innovative solution is a present that keeps on giving, offering patients a therapy that improves face aging even weeks after injection.

Why You Should Opt for Sculptra

Not all injectables and therapies are made equal. Each one is made to target different parts of the face, resulting in various results. Patients may have turned to collagen creams to encourage collagen formation and repair skin deterioration; however, collagen molecules are typically too big to be administered topically and absorbed into the dermis. As a result, these creams are frequently utilized as an excellent moisturizer for immediate skin improvement.

Patients may also benefit from collagen dietary supplements, which help the body produce more collagen. The issue is that collagen is a protein, and when protein is consumed, it is broken down by the digestive system, rendering it useless. In regions where the face skin has begun to deteriorate, Sculptra can be utilized to promote collagen formation. Even after the treatment, this will assist restore facial volume and lessen the appearance of deep creases and lines.

Benefits of Sculptra

When Sculptra is injected into the skin, it “kicks off” the body’s collagen production. More collagen is created naturally as a result of these injections, which gives volume to the face and corrects indentations, wrinkles, and folds. The fact that Sculptra is a pretty thick substance means that the plumping effect might persist for up to two years is another advantage of these injections. This is far longer than the majority of other dermal fillers.

Sculptra is used to restore volume to regions of the face that have lost a lot of fat. This injection is a biocompatible, synthetic, and safe substance that helps to repair skin structure. The injectable version of polylactic acid, or PLLA, is Sculptra. Polylactic acid is made from lactic acid, which is present naturally in the body, making it biocompatible and obviating the need for allergy testing.

Treatment

The Sculptra treatment will take less than an hour to complete. To make the injections more pleasant, the skin care specialist will blend Sculptra with Lidocaine, an anesthetic. To numb the treatment area and increase the patient’s comfort, a topical anesthetic might be applied. Before commencing the treatment, the doctor will select the best injection sites. The injections will then be carefully placed deep into the dermis until the desired look is achieved.
